Imagine Arts Fall/Spring Program

This is our flagship program, launched in 2002, with lessons offered in your home or online on a weekly basis throughout the school year. Our Fall/Spring program begins in late August, a week before Labor Day, and runs through most of May. Students are welcome to join this program at any point throughout the school year, starting with a non-committal trial lesson or two!

Rob – Director

Rob has been teaching music privately since 1994, and is a founding member and Director of Imagine Arts. He is a graduate of Hampshire College, where his studies focused on music and child psychology. Rob helped develop the Imagine Arts program with the belief that students will flourish in their studies if they feel engaged and inspired in the process of learning.

He has also lived in Los Angeles and Nashville, working as a producer, performer and songwriter. Rob works with students in many genres, but his favorite ones to teach are classical and classic rock ‘n’ roll.

Sonya is one of the founders of Imagine Arts, involved in its creation in 2002. She taught piano and dance to Imagine Arts students for many years, and over time developed an interest in studying and teaching yoga as well.

Sonya completed both her RYT 200 and RYT 500 level certification, and now teaches yoga in several studios around the Greater Atlanta area, as well as in-home with Imagine Arts.

She enjoys working with students of all ages and levels of experience, and finds it rewarding to share her love of yoga with others who wish to experience it with her.

Syd

Originally from Charlotte, Syd’s musical journey began at the age of ten when she discovered a passion for playing guitar. Music has been an integral part of her life ever since, later joining marching band and playing guitar and bass in various jazz bands. Studying Sound Design at SCAD opened a door to another world of sound for Syd, expanding upon her musical interests and pursuits. She loves all aspects of music and her primary goal is to share everything she knows with all her students, helping them discover their own interests. Syd strives to help them express themselves through their music, finding their own, unique voices.

Post-graduation, Leonard moved to New York City, working in entertainment companies such as Little Maestros and the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, while also appearing in Off-Broadway shows, National TYA tours, and new-work musicals. When Leonard moved to Georgia in 2020, he worked as an instructor and Director at a local music school and continues to perform music around the Atlanta area. He also arranges and records music in his home studio, covering his favorite songs and learning to play new instruments. Leonard is excited to continue teaching and sharing his craft of art and music with new students in the Greater Atlanta area!

She passionately believes that everyone can do yoga, and that every practice should be unique to the individual and their needs in the moment.  Heather also loves piano and enjoys helping students discover a love for making music on this beautiful instrument!

Heather joined the Imagine Arts team in April 2016 and is excited to share this wonderful “toolbox for life” that is yoga, as well as piano, with you!

Dan

Dan began playing drums at the ripe age of 11 and continues to have a passion for music and expanding his craft as a musician. He started singing, playing piano and drums in high school by learning songs by bands like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, while over time gaining an appreciation for other genres of music over time. In fall of 2013 Dan began attending Columbus State University in pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, focusing on Jazz studies. By the time he graduated he had extensive perfomance experience in Jazz, Pop, and Symphonic music and had become an impressive and knowledgeable musician, adding piano and voice to the list of instruments he enjoys performing and teaching.

One particular phrase Dan heard as a music student helped him decide he wanted to become a music teacher: “It is your duty as an artist to pass on the art or else it dies with you.” It’s Dan’s goal to give his Imagine Arts students all the tools and skills that they will need in order to become successful musicians.
