Ryan

Ryan is a multi-genre violinist with twenty-two years of playing experience.  She has taught violin and viola for four years and currently performs electro-acoustic violin with a local folk-rock band.

Originally from Nebraska, she started playing at the age of six while taking both classical violin and fiddle lessons.  Since then she has played violin in several orchestras, with bands of varying genres, and has written scores for theater as well.  Her teaching style is highly tailored to the individual interests and goals of each student.  Ryan believes that the fun and joy that can come with playing violin/viola should be prioritized early while learning to play, considering it is a more technically-challenging instrument.  Outside of music, she also works in clinical psychology and behavioral health research and eventually aspires to be a therapist who incorporates music in her practice.

Ryan earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree for Brown University in Neuroscience and Behavioral Health, respectively, and often incorporates this knowledge in her approach to teaching and learning music.

Ryan joined the Imagine Arts team in 2023 and is excited to be taking on new students, helping them discover the joy of playing the violin and viola!
